Message from the President

We are very happy to announce the 9th Congress of ESA which will be the most important event in the life of our Society in the year 2006. The main topics of the Congress are education and research in agronomy in Europe celebrating the enlargement to 25 countries and facing the changes in common agriculture policy for 2007 – 2013.

The general idea of the Congress is to present the achievements in crop production in Europe and all challenges for agronomic science resulting from the necessity to more sustainable approach. European agriculture is under the heavy impact of globalization but simultaneously the local, natural and socio-economical constraints should be taken into consideration. ESA Congress, grouping participants from all over the Europe and heartily welcomed guests from other continents is the unique platform for exchanging knowledge, opinions and ideas in the field of agronomy and particularly in the primary crop production.

Welcome to Warsaw, the capital of one of the “new” EU countries. The venue for the 9th ESA Congress will be the Faculty of Agriculture and Biology, at Warsaw Agricultural University, with 100 year tradition of education and research.

Mariusz Fotyma

President of the European Society for Agronomy
